The Statue of Liberty

Today we will visit southern Manhattan. And when I say South, it not just only refers to turf! After breakfast, we got to Battery Park. That is where we take the ferry to go to the statue.

Visit MapQuest!

After we left the pier, we took some pictures of the imposing architectural facade of Manhattan.

Manhattan in 1998.

Be careful when you travel with tourists. First, they are always in your way or in your pictures. And on a boat, that's worst; it's all like they're as clever as a flock of sheeps. Like this time where they all went on the same side of the ferry and we nearly capsized.

Note the angle of the boat with respect to water...

However, this time, we could take a picture without them.

Reflection.

Here is the main subject of our visit, in this Saturday morning.

And why not a collective souvenir of our three zeros, facing the statue of liberty, with Manhattan in background.

Unfortunately, we did not climb the statue. The queue time delay was about 3 hours, and it was taking another 3 hours to go up and down. As it was close to noon and that we wanted to visit the World Trade Center during daylight, we decided to come back.

The continuation of this walk brought us to Ellis Island. It's a small island next to where we were. Staying on the island is a library that people can visit.

The ferry then brought us back to Battery Park.
