The World Trade Center

Our trip's main feature: the WTC. Again here, Scote could tell you a lot of things on these towers, since he is our architecture specialist.

Visit MapQuest!

The twin towers are sober and majestic at the same time. They make us realize how tiny we are next to them. The most unforgetable of my pictures was certainly the one I took when I got back to back with one of the tower, while looking straight upward.

The towers viewed from bottom.

Then came the impatience to get to the top. But first, we had to wait in line (again!), take the photo-souvenir, and the elevator. Many minutes later, we were almost there. Almost because the elevator does not go to the roof directly: instead, we arrive in some kind of entertainment center for tourists.

Range of the shadows.

On all side of that floor, a bay window allows observing Manhattan over 360°. A small canopy allow visitors to stick to the window. Despite being advaned in November, it was crowded. We even met a French guy living in NY: he's a French teacher. He took some minutes to talk with us and briefly introduced its class.

The four directions.

Then, the ultimate step: the roof of the World (Trade Cener!). At that precise moment, come over us, a nice feeling of superiority! We, three Quebecers, united in this keen moment, standing on what is the highest building in the world. It's so high, we have to look down to see the helicopters!

Our tourists, at their apogee.

Following that, we got back to the entertainment center and participated to some activities where we learned that the WTC was "the most important business center of the whole Universe". What a vision! Here are some pictures that I borrowed from my partners.

Brooklyn and its famous bridge.

A panoramic view.

A wide angle.
Views over Manhattan and the surroundings, at different hours, at the end of the day.

Our second day is almost over. It was time to get back. But not before stopping at a small and typical NY restaurant. A meal fully deserved, before taking the subway to the hotel.

It was a tremendous journey well packed. Still, other things remain to be seen tomorrow!
